How to Measure Your Laptop Size (Three Ways to Find Out)

We all know that laptop size is crucial when it comes to laptop sleeves or laptop skin. But how do we measure it?

There are three basic ways to measure the size of our laptops: height, width, and depth. But there’s no need to worry about this because there are many ways to find out “how to measure your laptop” guides even without using tape.

Basically, there are three ways to measure laptop size easily. 

 

1. Using Measurement Scale or Ruler 

Now, you can find a scale or ruler in your children’s bag or in any stationery box. If you do not have them then simply knock on your neighbor’s door who has a kid and you can measure with the following easy steps. 

Step 1: The first step is to measure the diagonal length of your laptop. This will be the longest size of your laptop. If you are using a ruler, measure through the corners of your screen. Be careful not to include any part of your keyboard or mouse in this measurement. Simply measure your laptop by holding it vertically, then measure the diagonal width of the screen using a measurement scale and say for example you got your laptop size in centimeters i.e 40 cms. Now to the next step. 

Step 2: This step includes converting your centimeters into inches. You can measure your laptop using a ruler and convert it into inches using this website: Convert cm to inches 

Let’s say you got 15.74 inches in the results. Again the exact size which you can purchase will be 15.1” (Note: result after points will be counted as 0.1 inches)

Measuring dimensions using professional tape

Use a professional measure tape to take the dimensions of your device and compare them with the dimension requirements of various bags and sleeves available online. Ideally, you should purchase a sleeve that has about one inch (2.54 cm) left on all sides after fitting your device inside it to prevent the stretching from putting undue pressure on the edges of your device. 

Step 1: Measuring the Height

Place your laptop on a flat surface. Measure it vertically from top to bottom as suggested in the above picture. This is the height of your laptop. 

Step 2: Measuring the Width 

Now follow the same process again to get the width of your laptop or MacBook. Place it on a surface that is smooth and measures left to right (horizontal). This will be the width of your laptop. 

Step 3: Measuring the Diagonal

You should take a measurement from one corner to another but before that don’t forget to shut your lead and put it on the flat surface. Make sure to measure properly from point one to point two as the diagonal size is important to buy any laptop bags online.

Step 4: Measuring the Depth 

This is the last step where you are going to measure the depth of your laptop. Place the laptop on the flat surface as suggested and measure properly to avoid any confusion.
